What is a bottle share, you ask? Bottle Shares are the best part about the craft beer/cider/mead/seltzer world. They were originally created for the most passionate people in this community, but they are perfect for anyone with any level of interest to try and experience new offerings. Bottle Shares are the perfect opportunity to share something delicious with like-minded craft beverage drinkers, whether it’s something special from your collection, something local that others wouldn’t be able to try, or just something that you really, really like and think others should try too.
21+ obviously, plus you must bring something to share. No hard liquor; only beer, cider, hard seltzers, and meads will be allowed. Sponsors and package holders will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets; watch for an email with a code to go out soon!
• DO Come with at least, but not much more, beverage as you expect to drink responsibly yourself.
• DO bring great beverage to share. This is not the time to unload the three leftover beers from that sampler 12-pack you bought two months ago. If you want to participate and don’t have anything stashed away, go to a place that has a good selection of craft beer and tell them what you’re doing. They’ll likely be able to help you pick out a beer or two that would be appropriate.
• DO make sure you bring enough beverage. If you have only a single 12-ounce bottle of some really killer stuff, just save it. At least a 22oz bottle or two regular bottles/cans of each style you bring would be recommended.
• DO Feel free to grab something from a local brewery or bottle shop if you can’t bring something to con – just try to have it be something not super common, as the intention is for people to try things that they haven’t tried before.
• DO Try to bring your contributions chilled if possible, but if not don’t worry, we will have ice baths that can get things cold pretty quickly.
• DO embrace the noobs if you’re a vet. These events can be intimidating for people who are just starting their love affair with craft beverages. They need encouragement, validation, and education. And you’ll make a friend.
• DON’T bring any kind of hard liquor/moonshine. This is for beer, cider, mead, and other similar things only.
• DON’T open someone else’s beverage.
• DON’T get bent out of shape if your offering doesn’t get tasted. We’ve been to bottle shares where there were six people and thirty bottles of high-gravity beverages. Not all bottles will be tasted. And if yours is one that isn’t, it’s okay. Consider leaving it as a gift for the hosts. 😉
