Food and Shopping

There are great places to get food and shop around the hotel!

The hardest part will be picking one!

Hey everyone, Deep Dish here. Me and my friends are real excited that you are thinking about spending some time in our neck of Equestria, but between cosplays, panels and a sweet vendors hall, someone’s gotta make sure you’re eating right. And as a culinary connoisseur, that someone is me!

Lucky for you, Whinny City Pony Con is smack dab in the middle of Schaumburg, which is one of the most convenient places when you’re hungry, if you ask me. For one thing, we’re right next to Woodfield Mall, which offers cheaper food options including McDonald’s, Subway, Jimmy Johns, and Panda Express, as well as more refined places like The Cheesecake Factory. This mall has even got TWO Auntie Anne’s Pretzels for some reason! Because who doesn’t love pretzels? You don’t have to stick strictly to the mall campus for food, although you can check out the Streets of Woodfield for a Starbucks that sells wine and Red Mango frozen yogurt.

For those with a car or four (or is it two?) perfectly good legs, there are even more options! Of course you can never go wrong with Portillos on Golf Rd, which has some of the best Italian beef and hot dogs in town. Or you can go with Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria on Roselle Rd, serving up my name sake in such big portions, you’ll definitely need a group to help you eat it.

If you’re feeling lazy, the Hyatt Regency houses Fresh 1800 for fancier plates, Fresh Coffee Bar for simple staples, and Fresh Bar for drinks and appetizers.

Schaumburg is the home of over 200 restaurants, which calls for a little adventuring. Whether you want something fresh (Cafe Zupas on Gold Rd), fried (Village Tavern and Grill on Wise Rd), or foreign (BIBIBOP Asian Grill on Meacham Rd), I think here you’ll find the place that best serves you. Maybe you won’t get your cutie mark by eating a pizza like I did, but at least you won’t starve! I’ll be making sure of that! — Deep Dish
