What is Crow Trading?
Channel your inner corvid at our first-ever Crow Trade! Inspired by the clever nature of crows who collect and gift “treasures,” this event is all about the joy of the trade. A favorite at Ren Faire events!
How to participate:
Bring a handful of your favorite “not-favorite” trinkets – think shiny stones, unique buttons, stickers, or tiny dice – and swap them with fellow “crows” at the event. Whether you’re looking for a new lucky charm or just want to share the whimsy, come ready to peck through a hoard of tiny treasures!
Trinkets that you’ve made yourself are ideal, such as friendship bracelets or other simple, crafted items. Others might bring shiny rocks, small resin animal figures, etc. The only types of things to avoid are food (candy, snacks, beverages, etc) and anything that wouldn’t be appropriate for all ages.
There will be a dedicated trading and swap meet event on the schedule, but everyone is also welcome to trade with each other all weekend long!
Who will have trinkets?
No one is obligated to participate, but guests, vendors, convention departments, and other attendees may have items to trade! The intent of the event is for each person to have an item to trade with each other (it’s called Crow Trade, not Crow Gift after all!) but it is up to each person on how they wish to participate.
Trinket/Crow Trade Game Etiquette:
– If someone has trinkets, they are not obligated to trade with you for any reason.
– Vendors may have trinkets to trade and may set their own rules, such as “with purchase” or “answer my riddle”. The same goes for the convention departments!
There is no winner for the Crow Trade, but imagine all of the little things you could collect! Have fun!
